Hallsands was lost to the sea over 100 years ago and because of this WH Bond are now there maintaining the sea defences.
Hallsands is a logistic nightmare as it is too narrow to get lorries in, let alone two 20 ton excavators on low loaders. The Civils team decided the best way forward was to off load in the road and track across the farm land to get to the beach. Simon and Snippy spent a couple of days reclaiming boulders lost in the shingle. Following on from this, after removing the existing boulders and re-building the sea defences we placed the boulders in a logical order and insured they were locked together. Finally, no-fines concrete was poured at the back of the last two layers of boulders to tie them together and then a cast in-situ kerb was built on top. The good weather helped progress and thanks must go out to Graham the local landowner/farm for his help and support.
