Chard – Phase Two
The second phase of development in Chard, Somerset is now complete Our £5 million design & build scheme has created a 7000m2 factory facility to accommodate space for engineering, machining, grit blasting & paint booths to manufacture conductor rail. Mezzanine floors host the office areas as well as storage facilities.
The scheme has seen a reduce dig & cart away of 15,000m3, which exposed the poor ground conditions. These were overcome with lime & cement ground stabilising in order to gain machinery access to the site & then pre cast piles were driven to 12 metres. Sections of retaining wall were formed from contiguous piling & traditional cast in situ reinforced concrete walls to a height of 6 metres.
Once WH Bond had got out of the ground, we could commence with the steel frame erection, cladding and roofing which gave us a dry structure. Concrete flooring the went in, both ground bearing and suspended. Internal trades were then able to commence with dry lining, carpentry and M&E. Our highly competent site team oversaw these works using either in-house or sub contract labour. The project was completed on programme and handed over to a happy client. We are now looking forward to working with the client on Phase 3.
